Find the right room and you'll love it. We are frequent visitors to New Orleans, and I'd recommend the hotel for location, staff, and little extras that feel like home. There's a limited amount of free parking (unheard of near the French Quarter), a small but serviceable kitchen, a cardio workout area and comfortable furniture. The best part is the friendly staff, who really try to make their guests comfortable. We stayed over a couple of weeks and had two rooms which were very different. If you are concerned about noise, ask for a room near the open courtyard and you probably won't hear anything. Rooms by the small pool are closer to the river and pick up more noise, but the view is great. Overall the location (near the streetcar line, French Quarter and Fauborg Marigny scene...but not in the middle of party noise) is great. Plus for business travelers...free wi-fi all over the building!

My Cousin Vinny Experience. Did they forget to mention the train runs by across the street and blows its whistle, loudly, at 11:30pm, 2:00am and again at 4:30am? If you are a night owl, no problem then, because the location across from the French Quarter, size of the rooms (a 1 bdr can easily sleep 2 couples), and price for value can't be beat. Even if the rooms are outdated (note LA Olympics '84 art work), we enjoyed the experience once we put in ear plugs. Free parking on site is a huge plus.
