It's a dump. Icky, icky "hotel" - the rooms and the halls reek of cigarette smoke; there is no high speed/cable internet access; and there are no amenities whatsoever. Yes, the rooms are cheap, but even so, you don't get what you pay for. I'll never stay here again.
A family-owned and operated hotel with elegant Creole style..
The Scene
There's a homey feel about this place, and for good reason. The owner, Frank S. Rochefort, Jr., lives on the premises. Opened in 1969, it's among the genre of New Orleans' family-operated establishments boasting its own unique personality.
The Details
The 88 rooms are decorated with elegant mirrors, ceiling fans, bold colors and original artwork. Many have balconies. Pop-music fans should ask for the Paul McCartney Suite. The ex-Beatle and his family stayed at the hotel for two months in the late 1970s while he was recording at Allen Toussaint's studio with the Meters, a New Orleans-based group. The restaurant, between the courtyard pool and the bar, offers good, traditional breakfasts and a lunch menu of sandwiches and salads. The large, adjacent, self-service parking lot allows unlimited in-out privileges.
Loved this hotel!. We have stayed here and have loved it! It is so charming! Beautiful antique furniture in our room with a balcony! Great little bar downstairs, good food also. It is our favorite little hotel!
Perfect Location.
I loved staying here! Two blocks from the Market and just far enough away from Bourbon Street to be quiet (but easy to walk to.) If Paul Mccartney and Barry Manilow stayed here, how could you go wrong!
The bar is a little local hang out with a view of the pool. We had breakfast in the pool/courtyard area in a beautiful setting (there is a photo on their website.) The rooms were newly renovated - very lovely and they were always cleaned and made up for us when we returned from shopping - and eating, and eating and eating.
It's a great value!
