We have enjoyed The Golden Lantern for several years, Lance will take care of you, he is friendly, and nice to look at.
Gay and straight people alike frequent here.
Wii bowling is also fun and the ac actually works....sometimes even too cold
- Pros: a lot of locals and visitors alike very relaxed
- Cons: one of the bartenders is down right nasty at times
so glad it's still there!

I lived in New Orleans 1980-1982, my first apt. was in Marigny and I am a straight female...but the GL was always my favorite bar...open 24 hours, extremely friendly locals, terific bartenders AND they pour a potent drink that won't break your bank! If it still is like this, then thankfully some things never change. Does anyone know if Danny Wilson is still the owner?
- Pros: excellent cocktails, excellent bartenders
- Cons: bathrooms not the cleanest but oh well
neighborhood fun

This is one of the few remaining real neighborhood bars in the French Quarter. It gets a real eclectic mix of people. Tourists, gay, straight, musicians, waiters, professionals, etc. Bartenders are down to earth New Orleans style friendly & they serve a truly potent drink at an amazingly reasonable price.
- Pros: casual, friendly, inexpensive, down to earth
- Cons: bathrooms need work
Real neighborhood bar.

The Golden Lantern is listed as a 36 year old gay, locals hangout, but it is very hetero-friendly & tourist-friendly. One of the few true neighborhood places left in the French Quarter. Very good drinks, extremely good prices!
- Pros: Inexpensive, All ages
- Cons: Some local snobbery
