Great service and put up with our BS..
They accommodated a dozen of us for Sunday brunch. We had people showing up late and leaving early... The usual BS when when relatives are in town. Needless to say, they dealt with us professionally
and we gave them a FAT tip.
Now for the margaritas... They're not the best. They're good, but nowhere close to the best. I normally wouldn't say anything but our waiter was boasting about having the best margaritas and I'm here to tell you, they are far from it. Keep dreaming and maybe it will come true!…
Used to be impressive. Now, snotty staff..
I worked at the Columns years and years ago so upon returning to the city with an international visitor I made sure to take her to the 'impressive' Columns hotel. We waited outside for 25 minutes
without being served by the waitress, and then meandered inside to tour the hotel. There were two men at the front desk, a Henry and a Freeland Minor, who were doing absolutely nothing, and when we asked to tour the hotel and a question about current operations they literally snorted at us. I have never seen such rude front desk personnel in my life and we hightailed it out of there immediately and DON'T plan to go back. Any establishment that hires a person (or 2!) just to sit at a desk and talk to customers- who think it's acceptable to be THAT snotty and rude- must be doing something seriously wrong.
Pros: Nice building
Cons: Drinks are WAY overpriced if you're not getting good service, waitresses are slow, and the staff is snotty and rude.…
Great Hotel BUT.... It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at referer.us/8/GoodHotelDeals They usually have some pretty good deals on there!
Great for sitting outside for a drink over looking Saint Charles. Great place for having a mixed drink outside. Weekends should be avoided because they often have weddings. They also very much need to revamp their wine list, it's horrible! Drink prices are also a bit steep. Would be great if they could add some bar snacks. It's definitely a fun place to stop by for an after work drink.…
The Columns - Local favorite. One of the best bars in town. A local favorite. The porch is perfect for sipping Mint Juleps and Mojitos in the warmer months (April ? October sometimes including Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, or March), while the bar is excellent for cuddling up to a nice, warm glass of your favorite brown liquor. This bar is not known for being a beer or wine bar but tries to accommodate all customers. Terrific atmosphere and plenty of dimly lit corners for more intimate settings. The Columns is usually complemented with excellent bar staff (ask for ?Big Mike?). The hotel also serves a mean Sunday brunch. Highly recommended.…
