Pros: The Elms Mansion is absolutely gorgeous; the mansion and grounds are some of the prettiest New Orleans has to offer and because of that our wedding was equally beautiful. Our guests are still raving about the quality of the food (we didn't have much opportunity to eat at the wedding, nor were we ever offered a tasting prior). The serving and grounds staff are outstanding.

Cons: Everything else. There are plenty of other places in New Orleans that are beautiful with delicious food. If I had the chance to do my wedding all over again, I wouldn't entertain the thought of selecting Elms Mansion as our venue for even a moment. I would choose Chuckie Cheese or the bowling alley before Elms, since they would probably at least treat me like a person. While the support staff are incredible, the management is abysmal.

Summary: The Elms Mansion is probably the perfect venue for extremely traditional weddings, hands-off brides, or New Orleans debutantes with unlimited budgets, well known families, and prima donna personalities. I would strongly urge anyone else to run away. Your venue should *never* treat you the way we were continually treated, especially not a venue that prides itself on 40+ years of hosting special events. Please review the details and avoid making the same mistake we did. Your Elms wedding will be beautiful, but it will always be about *them,* not *you.*

Details: Feel free to contact me for details. I can practically guarantee that your Elms Mansion wedding will be breathtakingly beautiful and that the food will be delicious. However, before choosing Elms, be prepared to get *every* detail in writing, be ready to justify and defend your decisions, and prepare for months and months of hassle and inadequate communication. If you still choose to move forward with Elms, I'm certain you'll be pleased with the final result, but the ends might not justify the means.

An Amazing place to get Married!!!. If you are looking for a beautiful, fun and memorable place to get maried in New Orleans, you must go to Elms Mansion. The mansion and the backyard are amazing & beautiful, and my guests can't stop complimening us on the quality of food and service that we received on our wedding night. The food was absolutely delicious & Faith, the owner, is extremely professional and experienced in running weddings so you will not have to worry about anything on your wedding day. I wish I could go back & get married again!

Historic home with lush 19th-century charm overflowing from every corner.. Overview
The Van Benthuysen-Elms Mansion--or simply "The Elms Mansion"--is like a Mardi Gras queen, so bedecked and done up in opulent frou frou, yet somehow still so tastefully delightful, that it could only exist in New Orleans. The rooms are dressed to the nines in period furniture and accents. The home's crowning glory is a sweeping grand staircase that flows into the entry hall, a perfect entrance for debutantes, brides or other VIPs. The upstairs, which comfortably seats 100 guests, houses dressing rooms, while downstairs is made up of banquet areas, a library-turned-ballroom bearing the original '50s flocked bar installed by the Elms family, and two cozy drawing rooms.

The E xperience
Elms Mansion is a favorite for weddings, and will do the whole shebang in-house, from clergy to catering. In favorable weather, the garden, complete with picturesque white gazebo, can be used as well as the indoors. Corporate parties and Mardi Gras festivities are also welcomed.
