Really good but not authentic. Value, food and staff are all great. But it's not really a "Japanese" restaurant. They serve lots of Japanese dishes but do lots of non-traditional combinations and techniques. Still alot better than other sushi places in the city but not as good as the Japanese-owned ones.
Kyoto Sushi Bar.
The sushi was very good & we are going back for more today. The Hot Box from the specialty menu is outstanding.
Ordered two appetizers, the Stuffed Shiitake Mushrooms & the Beef and Asparagus Roll. The beef & asparugus was bland & tough, they took the item off our bill. The mushrooms were wonderful, I will definitely get them again.
The waiter was friendly & helpful.
This resaurant will be on our favorites list for as long as we live in New Orleans.
Delicious. Kyoto's is delicious- great variety of sushi, but sometimes can be too pricey. I wish they would lower the prices a bit so I could eat there more!!
Good Eats. Love this place. I recommend it to even the most discriminating critics. If you get a chance to visit this place located in the uptown area of N.O., dont hesitate.
EXCELLENT ALL AROUND. I love this place. My fidelity is timeless. The owner Sara is a sweet person and has great people skills. Great restaurant guys.
Food OK Owner Rude. Owner, Sarah does not know how to talk with customers and is rude. I would not advertise for this restaurant again.
Omg it's great!!. I don't know why anyone wouldn't like this restersnunt. I mean IRS totaly a great place for kids and adults to acually see the chef cooking right in front of you! I would totaly revoment this place for any family or or just parents to come to this atmosphered resuranunt.
I wish I could like it....
I've had friends that have worked there... but I'm sorry... it's just awful! The original chef/part owner is no longer there... and man has the quality gone down! The wait staff is slow, forgetful, and they don't know the menu. It was mediocre before the storm... but now it is just unbearable. The last time I went there I was served raw fish that had definitely gone bad (it smelled REALLY fishy and was starting to change color). Even though I sent the bad fish back, it STILL showed up on my bill (as did another item that we never received). Owner/Manager completely unhelpful.
The rolls fall apart.
However, items from the kitchen are ok.
One of my favorites. Kyoto is certainly one of my favorite sushi places in New Orleans. With a perfect location, start with their fresh squid salad. Spectacular special house rolls as well as fantastic typical rolls. After you're filled with sushi, walk next door to Creole Creamery for ice cream!
One of the best sushi places in town.. I lived in New Orleans from 2001-2003 and Kyoto was a frequent favorite during my time there. I was thrilled to see that it had weathered Katrina. Though the fish isn't quite as good as I remember, Kyoto's is still among the best sushi places in New Orleans. Recently, I went back with a group of 10 high school students and two other adults from Oregon on a rebuilding trip to New Orleans. We were seated together in the back of the restaurant, which was a welcome change from other small restaurants that insisted on splitting us up. The service was very attentive and the students enjoyed their meals - though many of them ordered from the dinner menu and the dishes came out over a 10 minute span. Service from the sushi bar was much prompter. When we had a mishap over the tip on the bill, the staff graciously corrected the error more than a week after the fact, an act that has permanently won my loyalty to this fine uptown restaurant.
