REAL new orleans comfort food.. Just get up and go. No, seriously.. right now. You won't be sorry. My fiancee and I took a chance and walked into this funky little place on Magazine St. three years ago and ever since then we literally cannot get enough. Despite living in New Orleans, the mecca of create cuisine, its very rare that you find that one place that hits a 10/10 on every single item you order. Joey Ks is one of maybe three restaurants in the city who deliver this on every single visit. Bar none there is NO BETTER PLACE in the city for the money you will spend here. The value is just unbelievable.

Things you HAVE to try: Shrimp Magazine, Red beans and rice, Eggplant Napoleon, Oyster Po Boy, Onion Rings, Beef brisket, Trout Tchoupitoulas, and that's only mentioning a few things off the top of my head.

The bottom line is this place, despite appearing on the Food Network, is still one of the best kept secrets in New Orleans.

Only eat here is all other restaurants closed. Joey K's must only show its good side to locals - though how it distinguishes I don't know. Service was horrid, waitress ignored our table and served 2 other couples who came in after us. Only after taking their drink orders did she finally come to give us menus. We were there as they finished serving breakfast, but before the lunch specials how been written on the board. When asked what lunch specials there were the reply was "nothing really, but he will have the "mumble-mumble" po' boy. My husband ordered a fish and I ordered a salad. I listened to another waitress list off the specials for the table behind us and discovered there were after all items off the menu. Called our waitress back and placed a new order of salad for me and jambalaya for my husband. It took almost 40 minutes for our food to arrive. His tasted like it was straight out of a box mix and my salad was 1/2 of a head of iceberg lettuce, 1/4 of a previously frozen tomato and 1 slice of cucumber. What a waste of time, money and effort.

Love Joey K's. Joey K's is a New Orleans institution. Expect great food, great service, and fantastic prices. Try the ice cold schooner of beer and the daily blue plate special.
