We were closer to Kenner than Gulfport so we took the car to Mike's to try to find an a-arm. My brother and I bought an a-arm set there and tried to fix it outside the shop. After about 30 minutes, Mike takes a break and spots me and my brother trying to fix the car. He walks over to us, offers to let us use his tools and give us a hand. To make a long story short Mike interupted his break and tried to help free of charge until he realized he didnt have the tools he needed as his mechanic was off and took them home. He still tried to help us right up until just before closing time. To me thats above and beyond. He has my recomendation.
Thank You. On monday I passed by Mr. Mike's to pick up some school project stuff for my son, who of course waited till the last minute to do his project. Mike took his time in helping us out and making sure we had everything right. Before I went in I read through the comments and was hesitant on passing by. Then I felt there were two sides to every story or opinion and so in my experience at Mike's Train shop I had a great time and was treated like a valued customer. I don't see how some of you came to these opinions. Mr. Mike even gave my youngest free Thomas stuff.
Rude, Rude, Rude...Don't bother!. The owner, Mike is not a pleasant person to deal with. I felt like he was doing me a favour by waiting on me. His prices are a bit high, but he is running a retail establishment, so I understand that, but don't even try to return something even with a receipt unless you enjoy being verbally berated, talked down to and charged a restocking fee! I used to enjoy the convenience of going to his shop to pick up an item that I needed, but trust me...make the drive to the North Shore and take your hard earned money to "The Electric Train Depot" in Ponchatoula, LA the owner "Jeff" is a very pleasant person to do business with!!
Mike is knowledgeable and accomodating. I enjoy taking my 3 year old train shopping at Mike's. I just relocated here and have found Mike to be accommodating, knowledgeable, fair and nice. My son and I will be headed there this morning to add more to our Lionel Train layout
Stay away from him.
An old fashion NOLA experience. If he knows u he is ok.
If does not he will swindle you. He is arraogant and offensive to knowledgeable people because he wants them out of the store.
Keep all receipts or he will deny everything.
Plan old crook
One of the Best Train shops!!. Mike was extremely easy to deal with. He was so great I bought 2 engines off him when only looking for one!! It was a pleasure to do business with this shop and looking forward to doing business again.
I love this shop. I find it so hard to believe that Mike was so rude. He has always been so nice to me and my family. I have bought several items and parts from him over the past 3 years and never had an issue. I really like how it is a family business!
Excellent Service!. The selection was great and the service was excellent. Mr. Mike didn't have my part, but ordered it for me. He even had a repair guy that fixed my car. Thank you!
what an A@@ HOLE. My son went there and spent all his christmas money on an remote control airplane. We went the next day to fly it and it nose dived and broke inhalf. I called and talked to mike and he was nothing but a rude A@@hole. I did not want my money back but still spoke to me like I was an idiot. Dont waste your time going to this shop. I hope you see this MIKE your an A@@HOLE !
Not very good service not nice at all!. went to mike's train shop and spend alot of money. The owner is not a kind person at all he's very quick to sell u something and not much to say but how much it is! does not give much info on return policies which are none and he promises u that his products are the best and then when something is not right are u need a part he is quick to snap your head off without giving a person the right to say what's wrong first that is the service I havr received the first time I went in there as a new customer not to impressive to me!!!!!
