Don't Bother.
Giving this one star is mighty generous. I have visited on several occasions and have only had 1 good experience, with Egle, one of the aestheticians. The rest has been completely disappointing and a waste of money.
The last time I went, I asked for a lip wax, and she began by slathering wax all over my eyebrows before I could tell her that's not the service I'd booked. Next, I told her I had sensitive skin and to please not put anything on my face after the wax. She said, "no, no, try this," and when she put it on, it burned my face so badly she had to wipe it off immediately. When I went to get my spray tan afterwards, my face was burning again, come to find out, she'd applied the wax way too hot, and it burned my skin in several places.
I got a gift card for my birthday, so I went ahead and scheduled a massage. The experience was fine, nothing spectacular. But when I went downstairs to pay after the service and handed her my gift card, she told me that it wasn't in the system and was purchased on the northshore, and was not applicable at this location... even though it says on the card, book your service, and lists both locations... She has no answer for me and made no offer to fix it, so I wound up paying unexpectedly.
Don't waste your time or money with so many better alternatives to salons and spas in this city.
H2o sucks without the best manicurist name TIM !!!. My mother has been going to h20 to get her mani and pedi done by the best professional manicurist name TIM !!! I called yesterday to book another appointment for my mother and they said he's no longer there, shocking to hear the worst news, I ask what happen??? They couldn't even explain...my mother have a few friends that go there and heard the true fact that they FIRED him without cause....TIM was the BEST manicurist h20 will ever have !!!! TIM has been providing services on my mother for over 2 years, it's horrible that they FIRED him.
No to all services but wax/facial from one specific girl.
I have had my hair cut and colored, pedicures/manicures, massages, wax and facial at H2O. The pedicures are ok, nothing amazing. My massage was horrible, my husband even went ( he is a massage therapist) and was in pain the whole time (and not the right kind of massage pain). The hair stylists are terrible. I think all the Old Metairie moms must go there...if you see red and bleached stripes, H2O's the culprit.
THERE IS ONE EXCEPTION: EGLE. She is amazing at waxing and facials, has a wonderful touch, and is super sweet. Brazilians are never a walk in the park, but she makes the experience manageable.
Different Pricing per Consultant??. I went to H2O in December 2010, and they charged me $30 for the lip and brow service, which is the amount posted on their website. I went today, and they charged me $40. I didn't say anything because I thought that maybe the changed their prices for 2011. I got to a computer and looked up the prices for lip and brow wax, and it said $30! I called and they told me that each consultant charges a different rate, and the person that I got charges $40 for lip and brow. I think it's crap to post on the website that the service is $30 and then charge more without any explanation. They should at least put that the service runs between $30-$40. I will go to earthsavers from now on. I use to go to them before H2O and they always charged the same fee.
Good experiences at H20. I have always had good experience at H20. My stylist is energetic, positive, interested & happy. "She's a day maker". I go there because of her even though it's pricey & she does great great hair & I feel good and look good when I leave there. ps. she didn't do my hair in the photo taken on a very windy day. She gives me much better cuts & more polished look. I do agree that the front desk could be a little more attentive to clients when they arrive & check out.
NO! NO! NO!. MY HUSBAND GAVE ME A GIFT CARD TO H2O FOR CHRISTMAS. I WENT TO GET MY HAIR HIGHLIGHTED AND IT WAS A DISASTER. FIRST THE GIRL AT THE FRONT DESK WAS THE RUDEST LITTLE WITCH I HAVE EVER SEEN. THE STYLIST WAS HUNGOVER AND BARELY SAID TWO WORDS TO ME OTHER THAN INFORMING ME SHE WAS HUNGOVER. NEEDLESS TO SAY MY BLONDE HIGHLIGHTS ENDED UP ORANGE. THEN WHEN PAYING, THE GIRL AT THE FRONT DESK WAS ONCE AGAIN IMPOSSIBLE. THE ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE WAS THE LADY THAT WASHED MY HAIR. SHE DID AN EXCELLENT JOB. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS SALON AGAIN AND THE SAD THING IS I STILL HAVE $200 LEFT ON MY GIFT CARD. I WILL GIVE IT TO MY DAUGHTER TO GO BUY MAKEUP OR SOMETHING BUT WILL NEVER SPEND ANOTHER DIME IN THIS PLACE!!!
My surprising experience.

Re: Friday, September 19th Appointment
Dear Sir/Madam:
I was at you hair salon for my first time on Friday, September 19, 2008 for a hair cut and style with Katie. I removed my shirt/blouse and changed into a salon black smock as I was instructed to do. After paying for my hair cut and leaving a very generous tip for Katie, I went to the dressing room to remove the black smock and change into my shirt. Well, I was shocked to find that my shirt was missing. After searching every shirt hanging on both sides and looking into the hamper, I informed one of the workers there that my shirt was missing and I could not leave without a shirt. The worker searched herself and told me that it was probably a mistake of some kind and maybe fell into the laundry. I hung my shirt carefully up high and it could not have fallen. There was no mistake; my shirt was stolen by someone at the salon. I told the worker that I guessed someone liked my shirt better than her own and took it. It was a Ralph Lauren white polo shirt with gold lettering on the front (size 1X). The cost of the Ralph Lauren polo was $65.00 plus tax and it was new.
After waiting for another lady to come to help me and then taken through a long maize, I was given a used men?s black T-shirt to wear home. This was a very bad experience for me to say the least! I was told that the Salon would be in touch with me. The Salon has my name and phone number, but I have yet to hear from anyone regarding my shirt. I think it is only fair that my shirt be replaced and/or monetary compensation be given for my loss. Needless to say, I do not want to return after having had such a bad experience there!
Sincerely,
Shirley King

PS: Please cancel my appointment for November 1st (I made it before I realized that my shirt had been stolen)!
As good as it gets..
I am a spa and salon regular. (and a man...straight man). In general, I have been all over the place. And when I get wherever I'm going; I book an appointment at a spa/salon to enjoy a brief escape from my grueling occupation. I have booked services on 4 different cruise ships, many different casino resorts, several high end hotels, and several different independently operated spa/salons similar to H2O. (Oh yeah, and even at Disney.)
That's just a bit of my salon resume so you can understand how I base my opinion on H2O (Met. Rd.)
I am very easy going but I am a "stickler" for detail. I never moan, groan, or whine at inadequate service. However, I do let my gratuity reflect my opinion of the service. I just read a bad review of this spa and completely disagree.
I just finished a sports pedicure, sports manicure, facial, and Turkish massage at this location and I feel like I got the best service from friendly, smiling professionals that I have ever had to date.
Although I am pretty easy going; it takes a lot to impress me. I was impressed. I shouldn't mention by name the three professionals that helped me today, but they are in the top of their field. And the Turkish massage, they called it a signature service, was unbelievable. I highly recommend it to any guy or girl. I have been to this spa twice before and have had a similar experience. It passed the test that I usually demand of hotels, restaurants, and most all service types.......consistency!!
Thanks for a job well done H2O and I see you in 2 weeks. Can't wait.
A BAD Experience. This was a bad experience from the beginning. I arrived at front desk to find that they had lost my Sports Pedicure appointment. The young lady at the desk; through her attitude led me to believe that is was my fault. After it was found I was sent upstairs to prepare for the pedicure. Upon my arrival I was clearly met by a young lady who was having a very bad day. Not to mention was her attitude was unbelievably rude; but, she left my feet soaking an unbelievably long time while she disappeared. When she returned I let her know that I did not appreciate the service I was getting and through her spitefull nature it got worse. When I departed the spa I informed the front desk of the horrible service; however, the management staff did not care. No appology was given and my money was taken. NEVER AGAIN!!!!
Very Satisfactory Experiences Overall.
I have visited H2O on Metairie Road off and on for 20 years. I cannot say service is always 100% perfect but overall I usually have good experiences when I go there.
The salon is usually busy. It's a popular well-reputed salon. Clients seeking a more intimate atmosphere should go elsewhere. Sometimes appointments run late. It happens. I have always found the staff pleasant and helpful. I did have one "bad haircut" which prompted me to stop visiting for a while but overall I've gotten courteous and professional service.
I think products and services probably are overpriced but that's to be expected in Old Metairie. I also feel there is a certain degree of product-pushing but it's easy enough to decline the products if one doesn't want them.
H2O has competent attentive stylists who actually 1) listen to their clients during the consultation phase and 2) attempt to fulfill the parameters discussed during consult. In post-Katrina New Orleans/Metairie area, this is less common than it should be among the stylist/salon community.
An H2O stylist just corrected an appalling chop job done to my hair at another salon. During the consult I felt the stylist was sensitive to my distress and honest about the limitations of what she could do to "tweak" the cut into better shape. I felt I was treated fairly and the new cut does look better and will grow out looking better.
I can't say much about the owners of the salon or whether they ill-treat their employees. I do know that many of their staff members have been with H2O since it opened.
I've mainly visited H2O for haircut and styling. I've also gone to the spa for brow shaping and eyelash tint. I have never had a poor experience and was always pleased with how I looked afterward.
Overall, a very nice place.
