The Scene
Predominantly suburban, blue-collar and family-oriented. Checkered tablecloths and a series of framed posters contribute to an inconsistent diner-like atmosphere, accented by a self-starting jukebox (packed with '50s hits) and a counter/bar with red vinyl stools that runs against one wall. A narrow walkway leading to the order counter can make for long waits and often makes the place seem more crowded than it really is.
The Food
Lee's signature burger comes two ways: the "original" and the "works," the latter heaped with extra fixings. Both feature chopped onions cooked into the patty, adding immeasurably to their flavor (even though they don't get a chance to caramelize fully). Grilled chicken and catfish sandwiches are also sturdy, but the burgers are the draw. Perfectly sized fries and agreeably greasy onion rings complete a limited but satisfying menu.

We were driving from Florida to Texas and stopped in Covington, LA looking for a Subway. We stumbled upon Lee's and what a delight! This was the best burger I ever ate. The bun was soft and fresh, the meat melted in my mouth. The grilled onions gave the burger a wonderful flavor. I had mine dressed with lettuce and tomato. I strongly recommend Lee's. It's worth going out of your way for.

Great neighborhood burger joint with a dine in are and a drive thru. You get a far better burger for about the same price as you would pay in a fast food joint.

I come to town about 3-4 times a year. I travel all over the country and eat at many different types of places. Their burger is fresh and delicious. It's like a meatloaf on a bun that melts in your mouth. I've eaten at a couple of other hamburger places that claim to be the best in town in New Orleans. There is none better than Lee's!

Know Before You Go:
Onion-averse diners beware: You have to order your burger "scraped." This means exactly what it sounds like; your burger will not come entirely onion-free.
