Great Seafood and Fun Atmosphere.
My friends and I have eaten at Deanie''s on Lake Ave. for years, and several times this year. Seafood is always plentiful and very good! Love the spicy new potatoes served as an appetizer.
Sometimes when the restaurant is packed it becomes a little noisy and the service can be a little slow ...... just sit back, enjoy, joke with your server and be patient....good food in coming!
When driving in for a visit Deanie's is always our first stop....can't wait to get back!! See ya there ......
everything tastes the same. I believe in giving second chances, but I really wish we did not, as this second chance was so not worth $130.00 !!! The first time we visited this restaurant, the food was so greasy that I had an upset tummy before we even left the place! This time I ordered something different from what the others in our party were eating (they ordered one of the platters), and still I was very disappointed! The stuffed shrimp (supposedly stuffed with crabmeat) was horrible! Not only was I forced to order the more expensive dinner portion (we missed "lunch time" by half hour or so and I eat very little), but the taste was overwhelmed by the spices (and I do use hot sauce regularly), I could taste nothing but the spice! My kids hated the taste of the food on the platter, as it tasted just like my stuffed shrimp! We all like spicy food, but this was way too much! Also, the potatoes brought out are awful, the patrons should be given a choice of rolls instead! I would not be so upset if we did not spend do much, but if I am paying over $100.00, I expect better food and service! This place will NOT get a third time out of us! I should have taken my cue from the woman who left while we were waiting, she said that was the worst food and sevice she had, next time I hear someone leaving a place saying something like that, I WILL listen!
Really good cheap seafood. Deanie's is the perfect place to go with a large group looking to stuff themselves with delicious seafood. Their food is well priced and the portions are enormous. It's hard to choose which is better out of their boiled seafood, but I think their crawfish is to die for. Also, try their stuffed shrimp.
Good food. Deanie's Seafood is wonderful. This is a place where you can get good food at great prices. Deanie's is a little hard to find but the time is worth it.
Best Bar B-Q Shrimp. If you go to Deanie's you have to try their Bar-b-Q Srimp!
Come Hungry. This place has good seafood in huge portions, and that's it. The service was terrible and the room so loud you could hardly hear yourself think. If you're out with the guys or need to fill up the teenagers, its great. Otherwise, there are much nicer places to enjoy good Lousiana seafood.
Quite possibly the originator of seafood-related overindulgence..
In Short
Deanie's ambience is upscale, but when it comes to eating, diners roll up their sleeves and get down and dirty. The boiled seafood pizza is a new spin on two old favorites. For a little variety, try the crab or crawfish quartet. For a lot of variety (and a mountain of food), go with the giant seafood platter--a fried feast, for you and a couple of friends.
Two Words - Seafood Platter!. I have to visit Deanies everytime I come to N.O. I love the Bucktown location, but it's not convenient to get to, So I'm glad that they now have a location in the quarter. The food is just as good. I'm sure they have other great items on the menu, but I have to get my fix of the fried seafood platter every time I come here. Come Hungry!!
Best peel and eat in town. I go to the Big Easy for business monthly and always stop for the peel and eat shrimp. There is no finer place in N.O. for seafood. If you want an incredible seafood experience this is the place. Get a side of boiled potatos and butter to go with it...
AWESOME Seafood.
On a recent trip to New Orleans my wife and I ate at the Deanie's Seafood in the Frehnch Quarter. It was WONDERFUL! It is cheaper than just about every seafood restaurants in the French Quarter and has a more family oriented atmosphere than most. And it must be said that the portions are BIG to say the least.
One last suggestion...Try the Barbecue Shrimp!!!
