Your grandma's grocery preps meals from homestyle to haute cuisine.. The Store
Opened as a corner supermarket in 1922, the Uptown location may be the institution, but the late-'90s Metairie branch is already a tradition. Your mom-and-em shopped at Langenstein's before gourmet became cool because the local company stocks everything to feed a family or an entire party. And you can make your groceries at the same time.

The Goods
Talk about a one-stop party shop. Start in the extensive wine section, add appetizers like mini beef Wellingtons or empanadas, then stuff the basket with yummy baked goods like egg custard, turtles and Key lime pie--and some fresh cut flowers for show. Just in the mood for a meal? New Orleans favorites such as gumbo, etouffee and stuffed mirlitons share space with sushi, tamales, grillades, salads and Brie pesto pizzas. Wanna cook it yourself? Let the butcher chop you a custom cut or grab some fresh-from-the-water seafood.

Simply The Best!!!. Surprise! This may be the best market on the planet! I've had some of the finest filet mignon known to man from Langenstein's. Sandra Ann introduced me to this treasure.

Just thought I'd say to the owners and clue in the shoppers!

Two thumbs up. I love going to Langensteins ! The cashiers know me and they actually bag and PUT THE GROCERIES BACK IN YOUR CART!!!!! This is something that stores don't do any more. The service is great, the prices are great,which overshadows the small selection and tough parking situation. I don't shop anywhere else.
