Unprofessional and Misleading: In
June, 2011 I signed and pre-paid a membership for 15 months (expires in Sept.). I moved out of state in May and have requested some reimbursement for the unused months. I have left numerous messages with Maryann but she has chosen not to return my calls. Spoke with the corporate office in Utah and they stated I should receive some refund but it would have to come from French Riviera in Metairie. It appears the only time you are given good customer service is when they want you to sign a contract. I would never recommend them.

NOLA's finest gym. The French Riviera use to have a bad reputation, but since Katrina the place has cleaned up extreamly well. All new equipment and tons of it. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the place is very clean compared to the old one. I love the fact that its on the second story and all of its windows dont make u feel like you're working out in a cave. The only complaint is the lack of space in the dumbell area. Ive trained at most gyms in the area and hands down its the best all around gym.
Poor customer service.
So i moved to cali and i called just to see if i could get a refunded so i spoke to mariana and she made a copy of my drivers license and told me she will send a email today and to expect a check in 2 weeks or more if I can get anything. Called two months later and she remember me and told me she is going to check her email. Got a called back and said she can't find the email but she will send the request now and pro-rate it to the first time i came in. Than about 10 mintues later i get a call from OSCAR (a manager so something). and this is how the conversation went.
Oscar: hi carlos this is Oscar a manger at the french riviera
Oscar how are you
Oscar ok so i spoke with mariana and there is not going to be any refund on you membership because there is only 1 or 2 months on your membership before you go into the free year we gave you
ME: O Ok well i might as well leave it open than
Oscar: yeah thats what i will do
ME:but you know mariana told me they would let me know how much money they would give me back
Oscar: (chuckles) dude we don't give money back
ME: ok well i kinda think the situation is f up
Oscar: I dont think the situation is f up man
ME: (caught off guard) what do you mean
Oscar: Well we gave you a free year what else do you want man
ME: first of all it is f up because I was lead on and no one did anything for
Oscar: ***he cut me off and said something**
ME: Oscar let me finish before you cut me off
Oscar: Im not cutting you off im letting you know how it is man
ME; Oscar why are you talking to me like im crazy (oscar tired cutting me off again)
stop calling me man you need to be professional not me (oscar tired cutting me off) Im the customer (oscar tried cutting me off) and stop cutting me off and let me talk ( oscar tired cutting me off again)

WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE SAID WAS "IM SORRY YOU FEEL LIKE THIS BUT ITS OUR OUT OF OUR HANDS" OR SOMETHING INSTEAD OF TELL ME A CUSTOMER WHO PAYS YOUR SALARY THAT YOU THINK THAT A SITUATION ISNT F UP.

I tired calling back the original manger that i dealt with mariana twice and left a voicemail and she hasnt called back. but the front desk girl tells me she is in her office. i went to BBB and they have a F rating and 47 compliants and 32 that they have not sloved. They are also not accredited by the BBB. Thank god i live in California now with awesome gyms that give good customer service because there is so much competition out here.
ROY IS A LIAR!!!!!!!. Roy is an ultimate liar! I signed up for my contract with him a few months ago under the illusion that i was on a 1yr contract while it is actually for 2yrs! He completely deceived me and when I tried to confront him about it he denied it and was rude!!!!!! Save yourself a horrible experience and an utter waste of money by NOT signing up at the French Riviera in Metairie!!!!!!!
When I was signing up, I "thought" it was for a 1 year contract, come to find out, it was a two year contract and not a one year, I had a friend to sign up with me, she stopped going due to the trainer was more intertested in her A** than training her and I, once they lock you in that its over, my trainer was more interested in the girls that walked by rather than trying to train me and staying on his cell phone....
I now have a permanent medical condition that doesn't allow me to go to the gym anymore... Now they want a $100 for me to get out of my contract even for my medical condition.....
Once you are a member and have you locked in a contract, they dont care.
I had cut myself in the sauna, and when i let management know they said "what do you want us to do about it"
The employee turnover is so great i rarely see the same face twice, they are paid by the amount of people they get to join (no matter how FULL the place gets!)
Monday, Tue, Wed afternoon, forget about a parking place, or using the equipment without standing in line.
Ive had several run ins with the staff, and when i asked for the owners phone # they directed me to call Paramount Acceptance (the billing co.) who told me they have nothing to do with how its run, then hung up on me.
I would never tell anyone to join there
Great place to get fit. I have been a member of french riviera since 2002, and I can say that i am more than satisfied. I find the gym to be clean and well kept. They have a large variety of euipment and from what i cant tell the quality is one of the best in the city. The staff is friendly and is always wiling to help. They even gave me a work out routine when I had just got out of the hospital from surgery. I was in need of fitness knowledge and motivation.....and thats what i got. Overall Im getting a a great gym that is affordable to my budget.
Great place to be. I like French Riviera very much. I have no complaints besides the parking. The staff are very helpful especially Nick and Roy. They are always willing to help me. The gym is always being cleaned by the cleaning women. I couldn't ask for a better place to go. I would be there everyday if it wasn't for the parking. Please try to fix.
Metairie French Swamp.
I only signed up here because the hours catered to my busy schedule and no other gyms had the number of exercise equipment that accommodated me. As much as we have to pay for membership, the French Riviera could not get antibacterial hand-soap, instead of floral lotion foam soap! Shouldn't a health fitness center be concerned with being sanitary for the sake of the guests?
Many of the staff are ill-mannered, rude and lazy when it comes to handling problems that guests face.
Roy is great. i like the service. Roy is a great. he explained everything thoroughly. he is good with helping you workout. the gym was very clean i was impressed. the price was great. This is the best gym by far. the staff treats you like you are at home.
