I like this place even better than Cafe du Monde because you don't have to fight the crowd and it's a much more comfortable place to lounge around, drink coffee, and eat beignets. The beignets are never overcooked and they're always fresh. Cafe au lait is delicious, something different here than the usual places you get cafe au lait
Editorial Review by Citysearch Editors. Historic eatery, once located in French Quarter, serves New Orleans' staples--beignets and dark-roasted cafe au lait--in the suburbs.
Heed the Call. Morning Call is Metairie's own unique spin on Cafe du Monde, set in a run-down strip mall next to a surly magazine stand on prime "Met'ry" real estate a nutria scamper away from "Fat City." There's no Decatur Street patio dining here, but the people-watching opportunities are exceptional, especially as the night winds on into morning. The less-is-all decor is a bit run-down in good lighting, but that only adds to the Call's hole-in-the-wall charm. It's a great place to cap a night of touring local watering holes, with fresh, sugary beignets perfect for settling the stomach.
