Got my bridesmaids dresses from Pearl's. Since all of the bridesmaids, save one, required a lot of hemming, it seemed to work, since the tailoring was free. They worked really well with a bridesmaid who was flying in from Ireland. They were great to work with and not too expensive.
I really had no intention of going
dress shopping here because of all the negativity I've heard about Pearl's Place. But, after having a not so excellent experience at David's Bridal, I decided my experience anywhere couldn't possibly be worse.
My experience at Pearl's Place was so much better than I imagined dress shopping to be. My consultant, Michelle, was so helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. I told her what I was looking for and she pulled multiple dresses for me to try and didn't try to force me into anything I didn't want. The consultants there don't work on commission, so they are not at all pushy and they really help you stay within your budget.
While trying on dresses, the owner, Eileen, passed by, and she was super friendly and encouraging as well.
In my opinion, the excellent staff and abundance of dresses at Pearl's Place should not be overlooked in your wedding dress search.
I ordered my dress over the phone and was very nervous. I found all these bad reviews, but they had the bridesmaid dress I needed for 125 and the other bridesmaids were paying 200! 75 dollars is a lot of money to me especially when our bride has us going on all these expensive excursions. I received my dress directly from the designer a month early! It's the right dress and the right size. It has all tags on it. Looks great. Each time I called the store ( to order and to ask a question about my order) the person on the phone was efficient and courteous. One tip though- you can haggle a little but with the price. Not a lot, but I got 5 dollars knocked off of shipping.
Shady, shady, shady! That's what I think of when I think of Pearl's. They specifically cut out the designer's tag from every dress and switch out the straps that normally have the designer's name on them, to plain white generic straps. They REFUSE to tell you the designer of the dress unless you put down a deposit of course. Really? I have never been to any other bridal place that does that. So you can forget about finding out the designer so you can look up pictures of the dress online. Oh and you're definitely not allowed to take a picture in the dress to have something to refer back to later on. I actually ended up falling in love with a dress there but refused to buy it from there just because of the simple fact they would not tell me who the designer was, which I thought was ridiculous. I ended up finding the dress at another place where the designer tag was intact and I was allowed to know the designer of any dress in the store - the way it should be. So HA! Pearl's is a joke! Plus, the fact that they don't take appointments is such a hassle. Prepare to sit there for HOURS until they finally get around to your name. If you're looking for one on one attention, this is not the place. Avoid it all together if at all possible.
Worst Experience Ever!. I went to Pearl's Place because it was the only place in the area where I could order a ball gown that I fell in love with online. I had heard terrible things about this store, but I didn't want to have to drive to another state to purchase my dress. I walked in with a picture of the dress and the style number. At first, no one wanted to talk to me because I was "not a bride" and I did not have an appointment. I told the worker that I just needed to order the dress. She told me that they did not have the dress in stock so she was going to take my measurements, which she did. Then, she told me that the dress would be ready in 6-8 weeks. Three months later, I called to check on the status of my dress and no one seemed to remember ordering the dress. I told the person on the phone that my event was in three weeks and that I was concerned about it not fitting. She told me that she would call me the following week, which she did not. When I called again, she told me to stop calling and that she would call me when the dress came in. Finally, three days before the event my dress came in. I went to pick it up and when I tried it on it was two sizes too big and fell right off of me. The worker told me that it would need to be altered, but that there were seven brides who needed alterations so they would not be able to assist me. Funny that the alterations are supposed to be free. I had a personal seamstress make the alterations and I sent the bill to Pearl's Place, which obviously they through in the trash. I did it more for principle and not because I was expecting reimbursement. I was treated terrible because my $600 dress was not a "bridal gown!" What sucks even more is that I paid in full at the beginning to ensure my order would be placed and delivered on time. I also contacted the BBB because this business is terrible. They don't care about the people. They only care about the sale. Save yourself the stress and definitely shop elsewhere!
Pretty sure all the 5 star ratings are friends of the owner.
Extremely rude! My attendant nearly about died when I told her I had two styles I wanted to look at. Then, she kept disappearing. You can't take pictures of the gowns (well you can for a price of $50). Also, they "code" their dress so you can't know who the designer is. And the coding is so complex, it took me a few seconds to crack.
I fell in love with a dress the code was "BP." After looking at the designers they sell, I figured it was Paloma Blanca. Shopped around elsewhere and found a much better deal!!!
TO SAVE MONEY, TIME AND TO AVOID THE RUDENESS GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
Great Customer Service. In December, myself, my sister and my daughter visited Pearls Place in New Orleans to check out wedding dresses for my daughter. We were visiting from Canada. I have to admit that if I had read some of the negative reviews posted on sites about Pearls Place before we had actually visited there, we would probably have went somewhere else and then we would never have know how great Pearl's Place really is. Upon arrival we were greeted by Miss Ruth who has a great personality. She pulled dress after dress for my daughter and always had a smile on her face. We didn't feel rushed in any way. My daughter found her dress there and since we returned to Canada our dealings with Pearls Place have been fantastic. I have emailed on several occasions and have always been responded to in hours, sometimes even minutes. I have called on several occasions and have always been greeted in a friendly and courteous manner. We had an item shipped to us in Canada and it arrived in a short time frame. We received the dress last week and it was so beautiful. I would HIGHLY recommend Pearl's Place for anyone who is getting married. Don't always rely on the negative reviews as most people only leave a review if its negative. You don't always hear about the postiive experiences. Keep up the good work Pearl's Place.
Worst Experience Ever. I order my bridal gown at Pearl's. They do have a great selection but everything else is horrible. I was so unsatisfied in more ways than one. Let's start from the beginning: The color I wanted they did not have in my size & because my parents paid for my dress in full there was nothing they could do :( When the dress came in it was not a slight bit to big, it was HUGE!!! I had it altered 4 times & I still brought it home with me & took it to a local alteration store to fix. Basically they have the most excuses in the book. Everything you say they deny or give an excuse. You can't tell them anything. During one of my fittings, as I was putting on my dress I noticed there was make up on it & I am not a girl that wears makeup everyday. It was just one thing after another. My dress still needed an inch taking in according to my new seamstress but the seamstress at Pearl's who needs to learn to speak clear English got the manager of Pearl's to come speak to me & she even proclaimed that because the dress fits I can now feel everything since I was complaining about bulges. Horrible, Horrible, Horrible!!! Do NOT waste your time & research bridal boutiques before creating an unforgettable moment!!!
Your One Stop Bridal Shop.
After visiting other bridal shops in Metarie, I walked into Pearl's Place and the staff was just amazing they were all smiling, happy and dancing to the music that was playing in the store. Once I signed in one of the employees Pat started helping me she was amazing she asked what kind of dress style I was looking for and once I explained to her what I wanted she went and picked out MY PERFECT DRESS first and only one I tried on and oh my God it fit me so perfect like it was made just for me. When my daughter saw me in the dress she had tears in her eyes she said "yes, that's the one" the other Bridal Boutiques were just so impersonal at Pearl's Place I felt relaxed ,welcomed and with my own personal attendant I felt special. They had a lot of other brides in there but they make you feel as though you are the only one that matters by the end of my gown shopping my daughter renamed Pat Perfect Pat. Perfect Pat I thank you for a phenomenal dress and shopping experience
Cheers to Perfect Pat you're the BEST BABYand keep on dancing and showing off your moves lol Thanks again
HORRIBLE!!!!!. The day I walked into pearls they were soooo RUDE!!! I should have turned around then!!! I ordered 5 maids dresses and My dress. 3 dresses including mine's zipper broke, and they said there was nothing they could do! Then I ordered my veil with cash and when I called to see if it was in 3 months later they said they had no record of me ordering a veil. Last, but not least I ordered The 400 dollar rhinestone shoes and the day of my wedding my sole broke off. We had to go in for soooo many fittings it was insane. I hate them!! I would NEVER EVER go there again. And the redhead in there is a total ass!!!
