wow... can't believe cucos is still there, i used to be one of the chefs there back in about 1991.....and the food we put out was top notch, I have lived in california now for over twenty years, but I still miss new orleans......lots of fun times... miss you guys.
Back to the Good ole Days. Recent changes in ownership has began to put Cucos back at the top of local LAMEX (Louisiana Mexican) cuisine. There beef fajitas are now using sirloin (instead of flank), and the House Margaritas feature Jose Cuervo. Nice Job guys....welcome back!!!!!!
Sometimes change is bad. Since changing the menu last year, the quality of the food and the menu variety has really declined. The quesadillas are greasy, the beans are bland, the black bean soup is thick and tasteless, and everything is completely smothered in gobs of cheese, assumedly to make up for the non-flavor of the food underneath. They no longer offer favorites like the Mexi-Cali, a chicken breast rolled up and stuffed with spinach and cheese, or the portobello mushroom fajitas, which were incredibly fresh and satisfying.
