Metairie >Donovan Guns & Ammo Llc
As a retired police office, Charlie is extremely knowledegable about all firearms. He has been in this line of business for many years. If you purchase a weapon at Donovan's Guns you can rest assured that when you leave you will know how the weapon works and all of your questions were answered.
If you want your firearm(s) kept for
months on end I would suggest go to Donavan's place....he's great at that.
But just in case you want your firearm back a.s.a.p. then find a place other then his place.
His respect for customers is NIL and his attitude is even worse.
I'll drive 100 miles out my way to go to a shop where they have respect for their customers and greet them in a friendly manner before I ever visit Donavan's again.
ONE OF THE BEST GUN STORES. when i first came to the store then yea he was kind of rude but i guess when he notice that i wasnt a gangbanger then it was all good, he helped me out and answer all my questions..
Those are some harsh words, Try to fix your gun at Academy!.
Those are some harsh reviews!
Let us analyse the source of these frustrations encountered.
Guns and Ammo have increased in price nation wide. Also, try to have a gun serviced at Academy or other large GUN / AMMO outlets!
I have witnessed numerous un-realistic customers in many gun stores. They purchase guns for instance at a "GUN SHOW" or "Internet Bargain Source" or from a stranger from who knows where, then, appear at a professional dealer counter shocked and dismayed to find out they were ripped off! Is the weapon stolen? Then take it out on the dealer who mistakenly engaged this otherwise "Victim" as a "Genuine" customer. In their frustration, they publish misinformation to make them feel comfortable with there self initiated dilemma.
This occurs in all facets of retail and repair establishments. The term I am searching for is "Fools".
As far as pricing, try to buy and sell AMMO and much worse "Firearms" to the adverage "Citizen" in the 70XXX zip codes!
I have had many NFA Class 3 transactions with "Charles" over the past 5 years. Some have taken a year to arrive at fruition. That was because the NFA process is not only complex, but, full to the brim with paperwork and gimmicks disguised as NFA Rules.
Go to Academy Sporting Goods and attempt to have night sights installed! Or try it yourself. I have several Para Ordinance, Smith & Wesson, Colt, ETC handguns and am thankful Charles sent them to Para-Smith-Colt in some cases because they were sophisticated designs and special very expensive tools are required to service same.
Charles is setup for Glock to the hilt, but to embrace all makes and models is kind of ridiculous. If you buy top end guns, cars, planes ETC, expect to paty top end service fees. This is common sense that seems to evade most of the "Cheap Shot" Reviews of the negative persuasion.
You complaining Review Guys ought to go buy into Tauras or Rossi not Para ETC.
Charlie stands behind everything I have ever bought at his store way longer than any warranty of the manufacturer.
Reliability is another factor. Military, Police, Civilian , and Sportsman alike are confident knowing when they walk out the door they have a working firearm.
Charles also donates to multiple public charitable institutions and national gun rights fondations.
And yes, he has yelled at me too, but I pissed him off right after one of you complainers. I yelled back then we laughed.
Go back to Leakview 70124 and look for a gun store!
Don't go there , Charles is a dipstick and a looser?. I asked Charles Donovan the owner for a price to remove and replace my night sights on my para ordnance 45. He told me the sights were about $100. and the labor would be $35,I went back 3 weeks later he told me my gun was not ready. I asked how long it would take , he told me he doesn't know he ordered the parts and when they come in he will call.2 weeks later he charged me $213. to get my pistol back. I informed him he quoted me $135.he then said he had to send my pistol to para ordnance for them to install the Trijicon sights that is why the price went up$78 14 days earlier he said he was waiting for the parts(dam lire)Charles Donovan is very rude and will speak condescendingly to you. Do not go there the guy is a rip off and a complete gypsy,if you go there you will be sorry. Thank for reading. E J Roshto New Orleans 70124. He is a complete ass wipe.
AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE CLAP.. never, ever, ever go here. this guy is a complete peice of crap.
great place for guns/ammo. although the owner may come off as rude at times, he knows what he is talking about. as a retired police officer, his store is the perfect place to buy a gun.. he can answer any question you have.
Donovan's Guns-- a hobby shop for the owner.. The shop has some neat stuff, but the owner has a serious attitude problem and his prices are absurd. The store has got to be more of a hobby, tax shelter or provides him with Class III availability rather than a business serving paying customers. I took my wife in for a 9mm and was told in a really rude tone "they're right there in front of you." Needless to say we left immediately. Gun shop owners put up with tons of crap from gangbangers and shadow purchasers, BUT its a major miracle this guy is still open and has an FFL.
Owner is a complete ASS. Went in over a year ago, long before I read these posts. Owner acted as though he was doing me a favor by letting me buy from him. Talked down to me as though I knew nothing about guns. I would ask questions, he would act like I was stupid for asking. D
Terrible Attitude. Owner talked down to me the whole time and acted like he had more important things to do than make a sale. I'll never go to Donovan's.
