They Rock and Roll folks. Its a fun place to work and eat.The Boiled seafood its great, and of course the food out the kitchen is fast, great and consistent. !FUN ATMOSPHERE!
crawfish, crawfish, crawfish. if they aren't good and large, they won't serve them. this makes a trustworthy feeling and no matter what the cost, we know it's good.
Good softshell crab and fried shrimp. Good softshell crab and fried shrimp. Restaurant is like an old seafood restaurant--not fancy, which is just fine b/c it's the food that counts. But some items are way overpriced.
Best Kept Secret. I love the Galley. Me and my family and friends have been going to the Galley for years and 3 things have never changed, the food, that is amazing, the fast and efficient service, and the friendly owners and employees. I recommend the Galley to anyone looking for great seafood in New Orleans. You won't regret it.
Great food, great atmosphere.
I can only assume that the people making negative comments about 'attitude' are not native New Orleanians. They are confusing local culture, which is unique, with other places that are not!
The Galley is owned by hard working people who handle lots and lots of customers every day and they really get the job done consistently. The 'large' man should have recognized that the chair was not sturdy enough to hold him and the person who called mid-rush at lunch is inconsiderate....call back at 3 when it is more quiet or pick up the menu on your lunch hour. I am a native New Orleanian who has Galley food brought over when family comes to visit me in Florida...especially the potato salad. I wish that I could bring the staff and their "attitude" along to experience New Orleans for a few days!
Lighten up and enjoy...vive le difference!
Right on the money.
To the reviewer claiming that the person on the phone was rude and should take care of their customers... she was taking care of her customers. That was the point. When you go in to the restaurant then you will also be a customer and receive the same consideration when someone is rude enough to call during the lunch rush and ask for something that can clearly wait until later. If you had ever been there you would know that they are always packed so your "potential" check probably doesn't hurt their business too bad because people who know good food go back for more. You know, because it's good. Actually, REALLY good.
I live out of state and EVERY time I go to New Orleans I stop in. My family gives me a hard time because they know it is mandatory any time I come to town. The oyster po-boy always has perfectly fried oysters (crispy not mushy) and perfectly fresh french bread that is chewy but not hard. The boiled seafood is excellent, specials are always great, sweet potato fries are killer, and I have always had very friendly and professional service.
Overall, I would say that the loss was yours and not theirs.
Worth and 8 hour drive! Great Seafood- where the locals go. We love the Galley. On our trips to the area we eat there twice in one day. Wonderful Red-fish, Shrimp, sweet potato french fries and Blue crab. We ate there on our honeymoon. It is a family run establishment and it is the Real Deal. Very popular at anytime of day, some people just need to go to Applebee's, and leave this gem of a restaurant to the rest of us. Great service, great food. We have never had a problem there. Going back in April for our anniversary.
