Great meal. A lady friend and myself just had a rockin' experience at this place for lunch on friday. We had just drove in from san Francisco and it was our first meal in new Orleans. Based on this I could only hope that our experience in this city would be just as good. We shared everything that we ordered and was surprised that each course was better than the last. The short ribs... to kill for. The soft shelled crab was equally as good. Our waiter, Jacob was attentive, informative, and a pleasure to talk to. we will be back. La Petite Grocery. Check it out S.F.
GREAT Uptown treasure. American/French. Closed Sun-Mon. Tues-Sat. 11:30-2:30, 5:30-?. A tad pricey: Main courses $18-23. Lunch entrees: $9-20. Shrimp romelade appetizer $9 excellent; blue crab appetizer is casserole ? rich but great. Pork cheek open sandwich is great. Side salad is fresh and huge. Nice decor ? painted ancient tin ceilings, nice bright corner.
Best French Fries I've ever had!.
Went to lunch with the girls. The atmosphere was so relaxing; I could have easily forgotten it was the middle of the day. I ordered the hamburger and fries. I have to say; the best fries I've ever had! The hamburger was delicious; prepared to perfection including the bun. Not too often do you get a burger that the bun is just as phenomenal as the burger itself.
Highly recommend La Petite for the food, ambiance & impecable service.
Great Hanger Steak. I was shopping with a girlfriend one day on magazine and between the heat and trying on of cloths we decided that champagne cocktails were in order. La Petite Grocery was just down the street so we decided to have a drink at the bar. Well the drink turned into a couple and livly conversation with the very freindly staff. After having a look at the great bistro menu we decided to sit and have dinner. She had the bouillabaisse and I had steak frites. A great steak with frites is one of my all time favorites and I order it whenever I can and this one was definalty a winner. The bouillabaisse was great too, lots of flavor and a nice assortment of seafood. It was a successful day of shopping, dining and good friend, what more could you ask for in New Orleans.
Great Neighborhood Restaurant. I started going to La Petite Grocery with girlfriends for the happy hour. The atmosphere is casual yet intimate and the crowd has never been too stuffy plus, 50 cent martinis is an amazing deal! Then I went to dinner there with my parents and we had a really great meal. I ordered the cheeseburger and it was phenomenal! It really caught me off guard because the menu is filled with so many posh dishes, I was pleasantly surprised when the cheeseburger turned out to be unique and delicious! I honestly think the cheeseburger is better than Port of Call?s. Another favorite of mine is the cheese plate. The cheese selection is diverse and the dish is light but still filling. I have been there several other times for drinks or dinner and have never been disappointed.
Great place to grab dinner with friends. The restaurant has a very romantic setting, but it turns out groups of 4-6 people go here, so it's louder than you would think from the outside. The service is polite and prompt, and the food was very good from beginning to end. My husband had the lamb shank and I had the bouillabaise, both very good. We'd love to return for a nice dinner out with friends.
Undiscovered Gem. I read the Bon Appetite recipe and blurb about the restaurant like everyone else. I am a fan of Peristyle and wanted to try a new restaurant will working in New Orleans. I was not dissappointed in the least. I had the homeade ravioli of duck confit in a brown butter sauce for my appetizer. It was topped with shallots, parsnips and deep fried sage leaves. It was great. My main course was a grilled veal flank steak over a breaad pudding, truffle wilted spinach with a morrow demi. It was amazing. I finished my meal of with a cheesecake napoleon. Great experience..
