Depends on the stylist!

by NolaMama

After reading the other reviews, I had to chime in. I'm sorry that other people have had bad experiences, but I have FINALLY found someone that can really cut my curly hair. Stacey Spiers is AWESOME! (She also teaches at a training school, so that may be why she's so good!) So, if you have curly hair, she is THE ONE to see!

  • Pros: Best stylist for curly hair
  • Cons: Location/parking

AVOID if you can

by worldtraveller99

I have started going to the Uptown location in 2002, I was happy with color (after changing the person twice with poor early resuts), but when my colorist left I was forced to switch, I chose the "best" one (most expensive and most popular).

I also go to another Aveda salon in another city; Uptown Paris Parker kept incresing prices, whereas the other salon has kept the coloring prices the same. I ended up over a 6.5 year period paying 300% more than what I started with (# times) in New Orleans!!!! The same story with haircuts; every time I walked out from the chair of this "award winning" person I ended up with one side being longer than the other or a string not cut at all, and hanging two inches longer than the rest of the hair. I tried four different haircut people, and none of them are trained properly.

I have been to top salons in several countries, this is the WORST salon with poorest training and the least amount of talent. Paris Parker does not have any competition in town so they get away with it, but believe me it is not worth your money. I would be paying the price (about $250 for color and haircut plus 10% tip) if I was getting anything decent withour any regret.

Their timing on the coloring is too short, it quickly washes off (remember I am comparing it to another well known Aveda salon out of town) and my greys show after two weeks. But it moves customers quickly so they can make more money. Often you are left in the hand of a trainee to style your hair and you walk away with a horrible experience.

They allow people to cut hair after a couple months of training and another couple months of interning. Other states mandate the peron to be trained at least for one year before they can cut hair, and in many other countries it is a much longer process. So you are often left in the hands of "green" people. Worse the people who used to work in the salon but did not succeed, because they were very bad, end up being the trainers at the Paris Parker School where they train new people!!!

I have left the salon, so did my fiancee; and I have heard several other people doing the same. A lot of people go there since there isn't much other choice in Uptown and the salon itself looks nice and "hip".

Avoid, avoid, avoid...

Best place I have found uptown : )

by london4704

I have gone to this salon for a year and will not see anyone else. Quinn does a great job on my hair! I am from London and have had my hair done at many top salons. I have been so happy with this salon that I will wait for an appointment and would not trust my hair to any other place. I feel that the two prior reviews were an exception and that this place is one of the best. I know people usually only take the time to write a review when they are unhappy with the srevice. I wanted to take the time because I am very happy with my inverted bob style and was online looking for the phone number to check the time of my appointment today when I read the above...

  • Pros: close to home. upbeat and modern. good stylists
  • Cons: none yet
