This place is called Scooter Ria now and it SUCKS.

by chrispy2 at Citysearch

I bought a 2004 TNG venice from Steve for $1200.

He insisted that he had to register the car himself. Gave me some line about how he's a mechanic and only dealers can do registration on site. It didn't sound fishy to me at the time, because I didn't know how these things worked. A whole YEAR later, I finally got him to actually register it by threatening to call the police. When I complained that I needed a plate because my temporary tag was expired, he suggested that I use scissors to cut the date off of the temporary tag. GENIUS!

So, now I've got my registration, and guess what! He put the sale price down as $250! He charged me taxes on $1200, but only paid the state taxes on $250. The dude kept the difference for himself. That's fraud, friends. I'm reporting him to the district attorney, and I urge you to DO THE SAME if he got you too. the phone number is 504-822-2414.

On top of that, he charged me $50 for a used helmet that sells new for $30. Buyer beware, I know. I didn't read the reviews before buying from him, or I would have known better.

DO NOT BUY A SCOOTER FROM STEVE

by lacraig819 at Citysearch

wow--I really wish I read these reviews before buying a scooter from Garden District Scooters, or whatever Steve is calling his shop on Sophie Wright Pl. now. I bought a 2009 TNG Venice last March. First, he charged $500 to my credit card and it took him 2 weeks to get me my money back. Second, the scooter was supposed to come with a $500 gas card from the manufacturer, which I never got. Third, Steve was supposed to take care of my registration. My first temporary tag expired and I had to get a second one. It took 6 months for me to get my plate. Fourth, the scooter frame broke in half (that's right!) less than a year from when I bought it & the warranty is not valid because TNG is out of business. Overall, it was worth selling the scooter back to Steve for parts just so I never have to deal with him or his sleazy shop ever again! Do not even walk in the door of this shop. He should be sued.

Terrible customer service

by knolarch at Citysearch

A few days after buying my used scooter, Scooter-Ria charged a random $1000 on my credit card. Even after talking with "Scooter Steve" multiple times and being assured the issue would be taken care of, I wasn't refunded the $1000 credit for 2 months.

Additionally, it's now been 3 months since I bought my scooter, and they still don't have my permnent license plate. I call weekly to ask about it, and Scooter Steve says the DMV is still catching up due to Katrina related issues. The guy is simply a liar and will do anything to sell you a cheap, poorly made Chinese scooter.

This place is a terrible place to buy a scooter from. I couldn't imagine a worse customer service experience. Simply interacting with this establishment is a highly regrettable mistake.

  • Pros: cheap
  • Cons: sleazy salesman, horrible service
