A locals late nite fav! This place can really be alive with fantastic local music and sometimes not so great music. Just went there a few saturdays ago and didn't leave the dancefloor until the band went off! Really enjoyed ourselves!

Good Venue, Horrible Soundguy. we just got home from seeing Reverand Peyton's Big Damn Band. They're a 3-person band - guitar, washboard, drums. the soundguy cranked them so that all we heard, essentially, was the drums. the opening act started at a great volume, but they asked to have a couple elements made louder so the sound guy just turned everything up - esp the drums. clearly the sound guy has a thing for drums. that and he's deaf and has no concept of proper sound mixing. the blue nile is a bar - not an arena. bands should be playing at bar volume, not arena volume. i hope my ears stop ringing sometime this month. i expect ringing w/ arena concerts, not bars... otherwise, good venue with great drinks and plenty of floor space.

Once the rockin' Dream Palace, now a sophisticated lounge and jazz venue.. In Short
Formerly occupied by the rock club Dream Palace, this space has carved out a different niche in the Frenchmen Street scene. Painted in blues, golds and reds, it has a vaguely Latin feel. And naturally, salsa dancing and Latin jazz Friday nights figure in prominently on the weekly schedule. Wednesdays are college rock nights, while Saturdays and Sundays program traditional jazz. The Blue Nile also rents the upstairs party room for special occasions.

Great Music Venue. One of the best live music venues in the city with world class artists there every week. New Orleans Piano legend Henry Butler is there every Thursday night with his band, amazing. Excellent beer selection, great bartenders. The upstairs Alley Katz lounge is cool too with a big balcony overlooking the street. No food here, but you can bring it in with you.
