Mid-City local bar which welcomes all.
We went to Bullets to see Kermit Ruffins play. Being visitors, we drove by in the afternoon to ensure we were not walking into a place we should not be. While the crowd consisted of local, African-American clientele, it was nice and we did not feel uncomfortable at all.
When we returned at 6 pm, the place was packed with locals! Some folks seated at a table saw our dilemma and waved us over, indicating that "We are all one big family here ... sit with us." Everyone was terrific, welcoming, nice. We had a great time. At one point I turned to one of our tablemates and thanked him for making us feel welcome. He said it best "We didn't make you feel welcome here ... you ARE welcome here."
