Editorial Review. Locals and stray tourists frequent this friendly bar on the Quarter outskirts for cheap drinks, specialty sandwiches, and happy hour.
don't just pass by like the other tourists. My friend and I were wandering around the Central Business District and while gazing at a nearby church noticed some people preparing to boil some crawfish on the sidewalk in front of Mikes. We were invited to come back after they'd be done, and after a couple hours walking around the Garden District, luckily for us, we did return. We were treated like customers who had been going there for years, and it was odd and amusing (us being tourists) to see the parade of tourists walk by on their way to the Quarter, some asking for directions and getting that and a joke or two from the locals at Mike's. My advice if you're nearby: don't walk by Mike's without dropping in for a beer or two. You'll certainly get more than you expect, and it might end up being your favorite bar in New Orleans.
what a place!. This place was my favorite out of every bar in New Orleans! The owners are extremely friendly and the atmosphere is wonderful! Not to mention they have the BEST appetizers ive ever had! Thanks for the good times Cajun Mike!
Neighborhood bar in CBD. This is a friendly little place in the middle of the CBD that is warm and inviting. The bartenders are witty and receptive, and there is a core group of regulars that maintain the "neighborhood bar" ambience. One feels instantly welcome and at home the minute they walk through the door. Wonderful sandwiches and other items are also available. Prices are easy on any pocket.
