Horrible service and very apathetic.
So I read the review about Gwen's not having a dress for a bride and decided to try her anyway. Well, here is the short version of a very long and sad story.
I ordered a dress and then postponed my wedding. I told Ms. Gwen that I would take the dress even though I was not getting married since there were not cancellations (had absolutely no problem with it). She said no and to wait and make sure I had made up my mind. Fast forward 3 months wedding back on I wanted to order new dress. She said yes (since she hadn't ordered my first one-first warning). I paid an additional $450 for a 3/26/2012 delivery for a May 12th wedding. 3/26/12 arrives. NO dress and tells me I have to wait two more weeks. Two more weeks no dress. Wait one more week. NO Dress. We played this game until 4/19/2012 until she said, "she promised" it would be there 4/26/2012 and that “I had her word”. I went in there on 4/24/2012 and told her how upset I was, etc., etc. She told me I was overreacting. I said I wanted to look for an alternative since my dress was not in. She said 'fine if that would make you happy'. In the meantime, she blamed Maggie Sottero for the issue and said it was their fault and even showed me a confirmation paper (that I guess she made up) that said it would be in on 4/26/2012. 4/26/2012 arrived...NO DRESS. I called her and she made up some story about having them store the dress.
So completely disgusted I went to another dress shop to find a dress, explained the situation and they were very gracious to help me contact Maggie Sottero directly who then explained that my dress was there and had been available for quite some time...BUT that Ms. Gwen would have to tell them to deliver it and PAY for it (which should not have been a problem since I had paid for my dress in FULL). They contacted her on my behalf and oddly enough my dress was available. I asked them to send it overnight and delivered 4/30/2012 (which she charged me for). So basically she had lied for several weeks which beyond unprofessional and was very mean spirited...just plain mean.
I explained to Ms. Gwen that I knew I had gained weight (not a huge amount) but some alterations would have to be done to make the dress fit.
The thing that really disgusted me is when I went to pick up my dress, she didn't say I'm sorry or anything and the person working said do you wan to try it or on just take it...as if I was annoying them. So I had to get alterations at another location and will hopefully have my dress exactly 2 days before my wedding.
I would suggest another dress shop unless you want subpar service and run the risk of not having your dress on one of the most important days of your life
Great Selection Of Dresses and Prices. I really enjoyed my experience at Gwen's Bridal Boutique. Me and three other family members had to find dresses for a church pastor's appreciation banquet. The ladies there was awesome. They were patient, friendly, and made us feel right at home.They also went the extra mile of closing late to make sure we had eveything before we left. Highly recommend.
Wedding dress still missing and 38 days left. I ordered a wedding gown from Gwen's Bridal Boutique, on the westbank expressway in January 2011. I was asked to put 75% down in order to order my dress (which was in the contract). She asked specifically for $1000.00, which was what was paid. I called back in June 2011 to find out if it was in, as it was supposed to be in before hurricane season in lieu of hurricane Katrina. She then stateded that I need to pay this in full. I sent my mom to pay the rest. My mom was asked to write the check " To Cash" which she refused and wrote the check out to the boutique. I called again toward the end of July and was told that it would be in within 2 weeks. In August I called several times and she told me that the tsunami in Japan was delaying production of the dress. She told me that the manufacturer, Maggie Sottero, had issues with a driver and shipments had to be returned. On 8/18/11, I demanded the phone number to the manufacturer, which she gave. I called them and they were only able to disclose minimal information due to a privacy clause in the contract. However, I was informed that they spoke to Gwen, the owner of the boutique, and that she released my dress to be shipped and it takes 5-7 business days to be processed. I called 8/29/11 and she informed me that my dress was in, but she had to "pick it up" and it wouldn't be available to me until 8/31/11. Well, I called today to pick it up and now she is saying I can't get it until Friday, 9/2/11 because it is on "will call" needs to be paid for. I informed her that this shouldn't be an issue as my dress was paid for in full since 6/16/11. She states she is waiting on money to come in for the dress. Evidently, she is "robbing Peter to pay Paul". Please expose this so noone else will have to go through this. Stay away from this place and will be seeking legal counsel. If you don't believe me check the Better Business Bureau!!
Wonderful Alteration. My daughter ordered her dress off the internet. The dress was not the correct size, and Gwen let the dress out, refit areas that were too loose and made the dress fit so beautifully! Very professional and she finished it ahead of the time we agreed upon...I definitely recommend her to anyone...
Beautiful Gowns - Best Prices. Two obstacles - I was on the hunt for a dress for mardi Gras and I was determine not to spend a lot. A friend recommended Gwen's Bridal Boutique to me. I am SO thankful that she did. Upon arriving at the boutique, I was greated (very professional) and within minutes I was trying the first of 6 gowns.....I narrowed it down to two dresses. It was a hard choice but I had to make it. You JUST have to visit this boutique.
Nice and fashionable dress........... I love supporting boutiques, however the atmosphere isn't pleasant when walking in Gwen's Bridal Boutique. The consultants at Gwen's Bridal are unprofessional, indifference, lacking customer service skills, and the consultants absolutely refuse to identify and meet their customers needs. There's also a huge communication breakdown. The consultants don't give their full attention during each and every fitting. There's no appreciation shown when purchasing merchandise. I hope this review is taken seriously because I would love to recommend the boutique but Business Management 101 & Basic Customer Service Skills 101 must be taken.
