Elegant gifts distinguish this regal cubby as the queen of outlying gift shops..
The Scene
Don't be confused by Estella's grocery and drug store neighbors in Old Metairie Village. Within these Claire Burke-scented confines hide innumerable treasures. The stock here reflects diverse tastes, though some themes are clearly favored. Monkeys abound, dressed as court jesters and princesses, or cast in bronze and holding soap dishes or candles.
The Goods
Monograms adorn Peacock Alley linens and quality cotton bathrobes. Glazed wooden food from baguettes to pomegranates dots the store's careful arrangements. Elegant baby gifts are yet another area of Estella's expertise, though all the sterling silver is designed to appeal more to mom than newborn. Silver plated frames, birth certificate holders and rattles make distinguished mementos, especially when tastefully monogrammed. The section of baby clothing and bed linens is pretty without being precious.
