Average, Service was poor.
An old bank building converted into a hotel .Check in time was 3PM ,we arrived at 2:50PM and were told to return in an hour, which we did .The room was not ready when we returned, and we waited for another fifteen minutes. The room was cramped, very cramped,I guess we got what was the broom closet in the old bank building. We called down to reception for our vehicle when we were ready to leave and when we got down to reception , we had to wait 20 minutes before our vehicle arrived. The staff were not helpful or polite and the over all experiance here was well below average.I wont be staying at this Wyndam again.

A former bank comes to life as a sophisticated, upscale chain hotel..
The Scene
This boutique hotel occupies an elaborate Beaux-Arts building that housed a branch of the Whitney National Bank for decades. Opening in 2000 as part of Wyndham's group of historic properties, it has capitalized on its past. Original millwork and fixtures on the ground floor have been carefully preserved and showcased in the designs, and the bank's original vault has been turned into the restaurant 56 Degrees, featuring Asian-French cuisine.
The Details
The upper floors had to be completely redone to accommodate guest rooms, which are reached via narrow, zigzagging halls. Rooms are small, though pleasantly decorated. Handsome furnishings are mostly in dark woods and soothing beiges, whites and browns. Bathrooms are done in marble and granite. The lack of a pool and the small fitness center make the hotel less desirable for exercise aficionados, but it benefits from a location within the Central Business District.

Magical Renovation.
Located in a turn-of-the-century bank headquarters, this Wyndham is in a perfect spot for business travellers (right on Poydras, the main artery for New Orleans business) and pretty convenient for pleasure travellers too. You are very close to the casino and on the edge of the Warehouse District. Easy walk to the convention center and the Quarter. Even if you choose not to stay here, you should still eat at 56 Degrees, an excellent restaurant (is there any other kind in New Orleans?) located in the grand old lobby of the Whitney Bank!

Best kept Secret.
A newer property coverted from the Old Whitney Bank and it is splendid. We have stayed 3 times now and will continue to stay with the Wyndham's Whitney. A plus for NOLA. Convient and only a couple of blocks or so from the French Quarter.
