In Short
It's relaxed and a little grimy, like an undiscovered rock star's pad. There might be any number of new underground sensations playing board games or watching irregularly scheduled screenings of eclectic films. It's reminiscent of a college apartment with ratty couches, second-hand coffee tables, board games, old magazines, and an ancient pool table with two 11 balls. Punks, performance artists, neighborhood oddballs, winos and hipsters kick back or watch a performance.

As a low ceiling and mauve paint with 0 ventalation can have lingering negative affects on the mind like a Lynch film, the HI-HO- when it was HI-HO-HUM DRUM did this exactly. HOWEVER! This is no longer the case at the HI-HO Lounge. The HI-HO is not only under new management and owner ship it has undergone a complete physical tranformation. High toungue and groove ceilings, expanded stage, clean backstage areas, Fantastic new sound system, and reliable booking teams bringing international acts, are truely making the difference in the NEW HI-HO experience. HI-HO Lounge still offers low, low, drink prices, w/a friendly neighborhood vibe and it's still just a hop-skip from the quarter. You have to see it to believe it. If you've never seen it, NOW IS THE TIME! But don't just take my word for it...Callem up, Pass on by, get your music booked today.

The Hi-Ho Lounge is revamped, revitalized, and ready for action. The red-decour and high wooden ceilings make this divey joint feel like home while the vintage booths and the human-sized birdcage remind you that you have stepped into a truly unique place. With a completely unpretentious environment, one can feel comfy, sitting back, cutting a rug and being themselves while any number of up and coming New Orleans local bands rock the small stage at the far end of the room. Recently, The City Life opened up for Fay Wray's CD release party, and the setting was perfect for a truly successful shindig. This could easily become a favorite venue for New Orleans indie-rock. All these qualities, combined with the fact the owner's son is a member of one of New Orleans most promising indie rock bands Glasgow!, make the Hi-Ho Lounge a perfect branch for the local indie-rock scene to land on. As popularity of the bar grows, I predict that it will become a favorite hang out for musicians and fans of this young and vivacious music movement happening in the city. Every great scene needs a central location. New York Punk had CBGB....and it may be said in the future that New Orleans indie-rock had the Hi-Ho Lounge
